广州港集团有限公司是2004年2月26日经广州市人民政府批准，由原广州港务局依法按照现代企业制度的要求改制而成立的具有法人资格的国有独资有限责任公司。
广州港集团有限公司主要从事集装箱、石油、煤炭、粮食、化肥、钢材、矿石、汽车等货物装卸（包括码头、锚地过驳）和仓储、货物保税业务以及国内外货物代理和船舶代理；代办中转、代理客运；国内外船舶进出港拖轮服务、水路货物和旅客运输、物流服务。兼营港口相关业务。
广州港是华南地区综合性主枢纽港。在腹地经济持续快速发展的推动下，广州港货物吞吐量持续增长。1999年全港货物吞吐量突破1亿吨，成为中国大陆第二个跨入世界亿吨大港的港口。之后，港口发展一年一大步，到2009年全港货物吞吐量达3.64亿吨，位居全国沿海港口第4位，全港集装箱吞吐量超过1120万标准箱，位居全国沿海港口第3位。其中，2009年广州港集团完成货物吞吐量2.5亿吨，完成集装箱吞吐量872.1万标准箱。
广州港集团现有万吨级以上泊位50个；万吨级以上装卸作业浮筒13个；万吨级装卸锚地23个（其中最大锚泊能力30万吨）。

Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd. established on Feb. 26, 2004, is a wholly state-owned company. Approved by Guangzhou Municipal Government, it was reformed from the former Guangzhou Harbor Bureau in accordance with relevant Chinese laws on modern enterprise mechanism.
Guangzhou Port Group Co., Ltd. covers business as: loading & discharging, storing, bonded warehousing for cargoes as containers, oil, coal, grain, chemical fertilizer, steel, ore, automobiles etc.; agencies for ships & cargoes from home and abroad, as well as for transshipment & passenger transportation; tuggage for domestic and foreign ships; waterway cargoes & passengers transportation; logistics services; and other relevant port business.
As the largest comprehensive hub port in South China, Port of Guangzhou keeps increasing in cargo volume owing to its fast growing hinterlands’ economy. In 1999, Port of Guangzhou broke its annual throughput record of 100 million tons, to be the second port in Mainland China with such achievement. Afterwards, the port was making great progress year by year. In 2009, the whole Port of Guangzhou accomplished 364 million tons of cargoes ranking the 4th in mainland China and 11.2 million TEUs of containers ranking the 3rd in mainland China, among which Guangzhou Port Group alone reached 250 million tons of cargoes and 8.721 million TEUs of containers.
Guangzhou Port Group possesses 50 berths, 13 buoys and 23 anchorages each of 10,000 tonnage-class and the largest capacity is 300,000 tons.

From now on to the year 2015, Guangzhou Port Group will speed up its construction and renovation to create Guangzhou Port Group brand through a series of steps: to build a batch of specialized deep-water berths for containers, grain, bulk by finishing the constructions of Nansha Terminal Project, Xinsha Terminal Project Phase II, in order to solidify its current South China’s largest comprehensive hub port position and to become an international container hub port in future; to complete Guangzhou Port Plaza Project, Renovation Projects for Huangsha Aquatic Products Wholesale Market, Taigu Warehouse and Daban Warehouse, in order to enhance its integrated strength; to introduce information platform for port operation and to diversify its development, in order to build a real multi-functional, professional logistics distribution center.
