The current Guangzhou Port, the distribution center for logistics, business and information in South China, was developed from the Old Huangpu Port that enjoys high reputation as the starting port of the ancient maritime silk route. It now consists of four terminal districts along the Pearl River to the mouth: Downtown Terminal District, Huangpu Terminal District, Xinsha Terminal Dsitrict and Nansha Terminal District. Nansha Terminal is a brand new deepwater terminal, which will serve as a new engine for GZ Port’s container business.
Guangzhou Port Group, the port operator at the center of the PRD, is mainly engaged in handling, warehousing, bonded and transportation for oil, coal, grain, fertilizer, steel, ore, container. It has shipping links to more than 100 domestic ports and 300 foreign ports over 80 countries and districts. Rich road, waterway and railway networks connect Guangzhou Port to the vast hinterlands in South China.
